Peter, having spent most of his working life abroad in the Middle East and Europe, now lives back home in Yorkshire, in the market town of Beverley surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Starting as an art teacher in UK, he moved abroad to teach English as a foreign language. For many years he worked for BAE systems, teaching the Royal Saudi Air Force, and helped create their nationwide purpose-built language course. He received the BAE Systems Award for Innovation for his work as well as several citations from the RSAF. He worked in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War and in 1991 was given the Queen’s Gulf War Medal.

Introduction

His art is very varied, ranging from private portraits to commerical illustrations. He has worked as a museum designer with Yorvik Viking Centre - www.yorvik-viking-centre.co.uk - and The Canterbury Tales - www.canterburytales.org.uk and a restaurant design consultant. He is happy working on full-room murals that fill car showrooms, or small detailed envelopes to send to loved ones. In 2009 he designed and built a World War II memorial - the 158 Squadron Memorial at Lissett, East Yorkshire. This was a year-long project sponsored by Novera Energy plc (now Infinis). It was a rare honour. He relished every moment of this work and the resulting award-winning memorial speaks for itself. Peter Naylor was honoured again to be the artist chosen to design and produce Britain’s first national memorial to the Women’s Land Army. This was unveiled in October 2012 by HRH Prince Charles. He is currently working on a memorial to the American aviator, Harriet Quimby, the first woman to fly the English Channel.
